Controlling the Side Effects of Accutane

CortiBalm use for Accutane Lips

CortiBalm tube and Jar

Dr. Viders developed CortiBalm specifically for his patients that use Accutane. Not only did his patients experience problems associated with their severe acne, they also dealt with the side effects associated with Accutane. Frequently, these patients came in for help with severely chapped, painful lips that they could not cure on their own. The medical term for this condition is cheilitis. Unfortunately, all attempts to help these patients failed. As a result, he began working on a solution to help his patients. alpha pharma

Cheilitis

Cheilitis is the most common side effect of Accutane (Isotretinoin). The symptoms of this condition are pain swelling, redness, and peeling. Most patients try to treat this condition themselves with over the counter remedies, and so-called natural lip balms. However, this will often make Accutane lips worse. The various plant oils and/or chemicals become allergens once the lips are inflamed, cracked, and fissured.

Plant oils can be soothing to intact lips – not so much for cracked irritated lips. Flavorings and preservatives, within sunscreens, lipsticks or lip balms can add to the assault. As a result, Dr. Viders invented the first hypoallergenic sunscreen for the lips and the skin as well.

The Problem with Flavored Lip Balm for Accutane Lips

Patients often ask when CortiBalm will come out with a flavor?  Never. Flavorings like peppermint, menthol and even vanilla only add fuel to the fire. The hypoallergenic quality of CortiBalm is an imperative part of the formula and Dr. Dan’s remains dedicated to it.  As a result, CortiBalm is certified by SkinSAFE as 100% Top Allergen free. Just as a spicy meal is avoided during a stomach ache – it’s time to step away from all irritants during a lip crisis. After the crisis, Dr. Dan’s recommends a hypoallergenic lip balm

Some Dermatologists used to treat Accutane lips with prescription hydrocortisone ointments such as Triamcinolone or Fluocinonide . However, these did not work well because these ointments tend to slide off the lip. Meanwhile, the bees wax in CortiBalm helps hold the medicine to the lips and allows for absorption to break the chain of inflammation.

With amazing results over the past 15 years, Dr. Dan’s CortiBalm has been the solution.  Patients noticed relief after only 24 hours of use. Specifically, they experienced almost instant relief from the terrible swelling, peeling and painful lips caused by Accutane. As a result, patients were provided with the solution they needed to continue their acne treatments. For many of his patients it was a miracle.

Accutane Patients

Isotretinoin (Accutane) is a type of Vitamin A. It was developed to treat moderate to severe forms of acne that did not respond to skin cleansing and antibiotic treatment. Accutane works by reducing the oil production by glands in your skin and by helping your skin renew itself more quickly.  Although Accutane was taken off the market in 2003, other common brands of Isotretinoin include Roaccutane, Amnesteem, Claravis, Isotroin, or Sotret.

Unfortunately, Accutane and other isotretinoin products have numerous side effects. For example, this includes very dry skin and dry, painful, chapped lips, which lead to cracked corners of lips. In some cases, Accutane users have to discontinue their treatment due to painful chapped lips.

Many solutions have been tried to treat the side effects of Accutane, but none have worked as well as Dr. Dan’s Cortibalm. After only 3 days of treatment, most isotretinoin users have complete relief of their symptoms. In fact, many have significant relief in the first 24 hours of use.  Cortibalm contains hydrocortisone that helps to reduce the swelling, dryness and pain that occurs from the use of Accutane and many other medications.

What is Isotretinoin?

Isotretinoin includes Accutane, Amnesteem, Claravis, Sotret and similar Vitamin A products that treat severe acne. Together, Accutane and other Vitamin A compounds reduce the amount of oil released by oil glands in your skin. Subsequently, this allows your skin to renew itself and dry up oily pimples that produce acne type lesions. Often times, Accutane is used in the treatment of nodular acne when most other acne treatments have failed.

Accutane has a number of side effects. For instance, some include the alteration of mental status, numbness and tingling in your arms and legs, diarrhea, arthritis joint pain. In addition, Accutane causes dry skin, lips, mouth and nose, and other complications.

Accutane and other similar medications are only prescribed under the direct supervision of a physician because of its multiple complications.
